Emoni C.
Emoni Cook is an Atlanta native who moved to Los Angeles to pursue a Master of Science in Biology from UCLA. During her undergraduate years, she discovered her passion for breaking down complex concepts into simple, relatable ideas while tutoring introductory biology courses. At UCLA, Emoni wore many hats, including serving as a laboratory mentor, teaching assistant, workshop facilitator, co-instructor, and lecturer for various introductory biology courses. She also taught a course focused on helping students read and comprehend scientific literature. Additionally, Emoni has worked with K–5 students to bridge the literacy skills gap.
Emoni values accommodating diverse learning styles through student-centered strategies to help students achieve their academic goals. Her favorite aspect of teaching and tutoring is building connections with students and fostering a growth mindset. With compassion, she encourages students to understand that academic challenges are not a result of individual deficiencies but can be overcome. Emoni is eager to support students in becoming the next generation of problem-solvers and critical thinkers.
