Lazaro V

LA Central | LA West

Laz graduated from Yale University with a bachelor's degree in Global Affairs. During his time at Yale, he worked as a Spanish Tutor at the Center for Language Study (CLS), where he helped students improve their speaking, reading, and listening skills in Spanish. He used the university’s methods to make learning fun and effective, helping students of all levels build their confidence in the language. Laz also completed workshops with the Spanish Language Department, learning how to create a positive and encouraging environment for his students. By keeping track of each student's progress, he was able to customize lessons to fit their individual needs, helping them improve faster and enjoy the learning process.

In addition to his Spanish tutoring, Laz also worked with local middle school students, teaching them effective study skills like planning, organizing assignments, and preparing for upcoming tests and quizzes. He found that many of the techniques he used in Spanish tutoring helped him connect with students in other subjects as well. His experience teaching middle schoolers helped him improve his ability to keep students engaged and motivated by creating a more interactive and conversational learning environment. Seeing students rediscover their love for learning was one of the most rewarding parts of his tutoring experience.

Laz believes that tutoring should be a fun and interactive experience. Whether it’s Spanish, reading, or study skills, he always tries to make sessions engaging so students can make the most progress. When he's not tutoring, Laz enjoys making music, hiking, doing jiujitsu, and reading classic books.
